You became an example to all the believers … [because] the word of the Lord sounded forth from you (1 Thessalonians 1:7-8).
What is the church of Jesus Christ supposed to look like? There are many different descriptions given in Scripture, and many different saints and congregations held up as examples to follow. But one clear lesson from Paul’s opening words to the church at Thessalonica is that their zeal to share the word of God with others was an example of what every believer must be engaged in.
The fact that the church there was zealously receiving the gospel, and then sounding it out everywhere they could, was exactly what Paul says is to be the goal of “all the believers.”
Every believer, Paul says, should be following your example.
What about you? What opportunity will you take today to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with non-Christians in your area or under your influence?
